  1. So funny story or not. I was inspired to declutter. So I started with the junk drawer. I was doing really well until I put my hand in the drawer and felt a stabbing pain in my finger finger. Pulled my hand out and my finger was stabbed with a box cutter. A couple of hours and 3 stitches later I was back in the drawer trying to declutter. The 😊

  2. I’m a quilter, and do alterations and that means I have stuff! I very quickly went through some fabric and chose pieces to share with a friend. Three boxes, it is sad but it only feels a little lighter, hard to tell that I actually took that much away. Thank you for the encouragement to continue on! Quilting is a way to use up and sell and share what i have

  3. My husband and I have moved a LOT since we married 28 years ago, combining two households. We had duplicates of everything! We went through this downsizing process with: whoever had the newest/longest lasting item, that’s what we kept: the rest was disposed of. Because of moving so much, we’ve kept the ā€œclutteringā€ aspect of our lives less cluttered. We both dispose clutter in our lives and home. We moved back home to be with close to my youngest two years ago. We are downsized I hope for the last time! We’re 75 and 82! I find myself STILL decluttering after ALL the ā€œstuffā€ we got rid of!
I’m finding I am in the stage of life I said I’d NEVER let happen. I’m finding little puddles of clutter! Ugh! We’ve had life altering events to happen in a short time and and I’ve let things slip. (Huge love, husband diagnosed with Alzheimer’s dementia, held issues with myself, etc. Seems I find I don’t have the energy I once had. I was a perfectionist all my life. Immaculate home. I MUST get ahold of this situation, BEFORE I become too comfortable with it. I feel peaceful whenever my home is clean and clutter free!

    1. Hello Millie, I so
Enjoyed reading your post. I see you are seventy five and your husband eighty two. Wonderful that you have made it together this far. I am seventy two and lost my husband fourteen years ago.
I have decluttered intermittently in my life. Now I seem to do it far more regularly. Last evening in my kitchens and scouring through the fridge and ridding it if old items that are in bottles and have been there since too long ago. Moved to the fishyowel drawer, turfing those old faithfuls and trying to get to the place where I have only four. Two on the go and two in the wash. The plastic cupboard, my pet hate. Found lids from for ever ago when I still used to like the contents of the condensed milk tin. I found my floor mop cover and did the floor which seemed sticky under my feet. Found a cold dye which I bought ages ago to dye my dish towels all dark blue. I will do that today. I was energised by what I had done and thought I would perhaps find myself sleepless but I closed my eyes and was gone.
Thank you again for your post. I wish you a happy day.
      Lesley Ann.

  4. I struggled for years to clear clutter off my counter. Just couldn’t do it. Had nowhere to house them.
Suddenly I noticed our potatoes kept in the right place in a basket attatched to the island countertop were nibbled. Couldn’t work it out. Then noticed the basket had been eaten away in 2 places leaving large holes. A MOUSE. So now I have had to move everything off the counter after cleaning them. Mostly spices in a revolving rack kept out as I am disabled and I need my spices handy. So now the spices stay out till finished with and then put back in a cupboard out of the way. I washed the baskets and sprayed with bleach and rehomed dishes. I had carrier bags and plastic in the top basket eaten away by mice so now no bags kept in open spaces. redirected everything. Just have to find a closed space for the potatoes. Onions kept out in the basket as mice don’t go for onions. and where onions should be kept. This was FORCED decluttering
