  1. OK….I guess….however…in a decluttering mission….my focus is on the biggest item bothering me…so being with this one…then continue on. By going out of the way, I myself would lose focus. Peace of mind comes to me when I can clear up a “space” that keeps taunting me with its disorder, or over abundance, or lack of it. Out of the way decluttering has its place indeed but certainly not my priority.

  2. I have been doing this for years, and even more so since Im disabled. Then i go through things when I can and discard. Keep daily needed items in nice decorative boxesI can easily access. Ay least most of my house doesnt look cluttered!

  3. I love this guidance. It’s common sense, but needs to be said. Much “decluttering mantra” seems more difficult than the gentle approach that is suggested here. Of course many times there are things that should be given away, but simply suggesting a system and thought process to storing certain lesser used things out of the way seems a good strategy to me. An more doable than focusing on a big purge. Thank you for this.

  4. The primary reason for clutter in my home is I will forget about it if it isn’t visible somewhere, eventually bothering me to the point that I deal with it. Things have sat for years without me dealing with it. Being addicted to my phone doesn’t help either. So for me, clutter is a mental disorder.
