  1. Thanks for this great article! Speaking from experience, taking absolutely everything out of the closet may not work for some with no other place to put it (i.e. mine would not fit on a bed feasibly to be able to sort) so one suggestion is to remove one category at a time. This could be, for example all skirts, or all pants to start. Some advantages of taking smaller “bites” are that we may not feel as overwhelmed, it encourages progress because of the “quicker win”, and if life happens or we get called away from the project, we can still sleep in that bed before removing an entire wardrobe back into the closet until the next opportunity to tackle it 🙂 lol

    1. I completely agree. This was a guest post, but my advice would be to focus on one type of clothing at a time (short sleeved shirts, jeans, etc) as I too made that mistake of taking everything out when I only had a couple of hours to work on it…it didn’t end well ;).

  2. thank you for all of the ideas and great timing ,I’m getting ready to move so I really like your ideas it is good at any angel and it doesn’t take a lot of time, also I got some new hangers for skirts and bins to keep it simple, thanks again. S.L. Wright.

  3. I decluttered my closets with consideration for the (1) available closet space, (2) whether or not the clothes fit me today, and (3) whether or not I like the look and feel of the item when I wear it. There are several items in weekly rotation, but there are also more that I love and enjoy wearing that only get worn once a month or so, primarily because weather is precarious, mood is fluid, and I have plenty of options. Decision fatigue isn’t one of my afflictions. I love planning outfits for the following day. I do this even though I am retired and many days do not leave my home. I simply love wearing good quality, smart looking clothes. It is a joy to wake to a clean home and put on an outfit that aids in my happiness.
